As seen by friends, foes and lovers

In this second selection of offerings  from  Lord Tredegar’s  biographer William Cross, he attempts to reach a better understanding  of the truth about  Evan Frederic Morgan (1893-1949), eccentric Welsh aristocrat, notorious homosexual,  congenital liar &  fantasist, the last Viscount Tredegar,  of Tredegar  House, Newport,  South Wales.   Evan is  recalled to life by those who knew him,  friends, foes & lovers. The contributors are Evan’s crowd, some habitués at Tredegar  House during Evan’s chaotic tenure. Story tellers  include  John, Duke of Bedford, Evan’s half cousin  Lord Carnegie, brothers  Aldous and Julian Huxley one  a  literary genius, the other a scientist and Director of London Zoo, where Evan’s disturbing menagerie of animals were often housed. The Irish writers  Seymour Leslie and  L A G Strong,  the peeress Rafaelle, Duchess of Leinster, the American Charles Austin Sherman  and the Frenchman,  Phillipe Jullian illustrator and dandy add their own special recollections of Evan and there are further memories from  Cecil Roberts and Robin Bryans.
